Upstate South Carolina truly comes alive in the summer. It seems every weekend has a parade of events designed to get you out of the house and enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. There’s no way for us to showcase them all, so we’ve decided to list just a few things to do in Greenville this summer that we think you’ll really love.

Artisphere

Artisphere is usually held in May, and it brings visitors from all around the country to Main Street, Greenville. Local, regional, and national artists are showcased up and down the entire street, selling art of all varieties that fit just about any budget. We’re talking jewelry, wearables, metalwork, and more. Demonstrators at Artisphere create beautiful works of art right in front of your eyes — and don’t forget Kidsphere, aimed at ensuring even the littlest artists have their time to shine! You can find more information on the Artisphere website.

Chautauqua’s History Alive!

This unusual and highly popular event allows you to meet the likes of Walt Disney, America’s Sweetheart Mary Pickford, Orson Welles, and Gordon Parks — as well as hear stories from the making of Gone With the Wind. Gather around the outside stage in Falls Park to be thoroughly entertained. You’ll be surprised at how much fun you have while learning. Good for all ages. You can find further information on the Chataqua website.

Wells Fargo Red, White, and Blue Festival

This one-day event celebrating the birth of our great nation happens every Fourth of July in downtown Greenville. It begins at 5 pm and runs until approximately 10:30 pm. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand, with live music and an exciting fireworks display for the grand finale! The Zaxby’s Kidz Zone will have lots of activities for the little ones as well. You can find more information here.

Greenville Drive

Summer wouldn’t be complete without baseball, and luckily, Greenville has its own team. Just on the West End of downtown is Fluor Field, where the Greenville Drive plays almost weekly during baseball season. Tickets are affordable, making this a great choice for a family night out. There are even restaurants located right next to the field, making grabbing dinner and catching the game an easy choice! Info on schedules, times, and ticket prices can be found on the Greenville Drive website.

There’s more!

We only mentioned four of the many things to do in Greenville during the summertime. Recurring events like the TD Saturday Market (every Saturday beginning in May), the Travelers Rest Farmer’s Market (Saturday mornings beginning in May), Downtown Alive (Thursday evenings), Main Street Fridays, and the Upstate Shakespeare Festival ensure that if you’re looking for things to do in Greenville, you’ll always find something!
