Valentine’s Day is on its way, and we want to make sure you don’t forget! Whether you’re a sucker for a night out on the town, or you prefer to curl up by the fireplace on the back porch, we have a list of Valentine’s Day date ideas that will be sure to melt your loved one’s heart.

1. Keep things cozy and just stay home

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to involve spending an arm and a leg for a reservation at a fancy restaurant. Create your own great high-end dinner at home for a fraction of the cost.

We recommend following Martha Stewart’s delicious recipe for grilled strip-steak with herbed butter, with a side of steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes. Herbed butter is easy to make, plus it takes an average meal and turns it into an elevated dinner experience. Dim the lights and take some time for just the two of you to savor a good meal and great conversation. After you’ve finished dinner, curl up with your favorite movie, board game, or bottle of wine.

2. Grab dinner in downtown Greer

If staying at home doesn’t exactly feel like a ‘date’ to you, but you’re not interested in getting dressed to the nines, downtown Greer makes for an excellent dinner destination.

Trade Street offers a surprising number of food options, from steak and seafood to light bites and sandwiches. If you’re in the mood for the latter, head on over to Stomping Grounds Coffee House. Besides food and drinks (caffeinated as well as alcoholic), Stomping Grounds also offers live entertainment. After you’ve had your fill, head outside for a walk through Greer City Park, or explore the local shops.

3. Embark on an outdoor adventure

Ready to escape the dinner-and-a-movie box? Upstate South Carolina is full of great options for hiking, seeing waterfalls, or just spending some restorative time in nature. Drive up to Caesar’s Head or Table Rock for an exciting hike and views that are well worth the trek.

Finish your outdoor adventure with a picnic for two. Wraps and sandwiches are ideal picnic foods that will store safely in your car while you hike. Since it is Valentine’s after all, go ahead and pack a little dessert, too. A sweet treat is the perfect way to finish out two sweethearts’ day outdoors.

4. Recreate your first date with a twist

Do you want to really surprise the love of your life for Valentine’s Day? Try recreating your very first date! Whether it was a simple coffee date or something more elaborate, recreating that first date after years (or even decades) together is a great way to show how much you care. Bring flowers and knock on the door (even if it’s your door, too), and take your loved one out in just the same way.

Did you visit a steakhouse way back when? Then escort your loved one to the Peddler Steakhouse, a Greenville favorite that’s been going strong since 1969. This type of date makes anyone feel special, especially if your first date was years ago.
